By being married I am no less of a woman, I do not have less self respect for myself than those who are not. I have simply been able to find a man who respects me as much as I respect myself. I also share the opinion that if any woman were to find a man who gave her the respect she deserved she would feel the same way I do. Not that she would necessarily want to get married but she would probably prefer spending time with this man as opposed to those who are only interested in getting in her Calvin's. (sidenote: perhaps this particular bloggers problem is the latter). I am blessed to have a husband who believes it his duty to take care of me but who is not too proud to have me be the bread-winner (which in less than 1 month I will be). My husband is responsible for pushing me towards grad school and I know he will follow me wherever my career takes us. So I say again my marriage does not make me less of an empowered woman, but I have found a man who empowers me as well. Marriage is not necessary and I wouldn't suggest it for everyone, but given the right circumstances with mutual respect it can be a blast!
I promise to have a fun blog post next time, this has been a little heavy.
On a happier note, this is a pic of my mom's pretty hydrangeas.
