How long do you have to be in a place before you are considered "living" there? I'm betting it's more than 3 days. Here is a brief update of the happenings so far:
Work: So far I'm loving my job. I look forward to getting to the school everyday and getting to interact one on one with these kids. Most of them are so bright and I love to hear what their little minds come up with. Also, the group of assessors I'm with is awesome. They are all super sweet and the inspire me. With the exception of one they are all women and several are working on doctoral degrees. Just being around them everyday has got me itching to get back in school.
Living: The sweet lady I'm staying with has been the most amazing hostess. She has taken us (another girl is staying with her as well during these three weeks) to dinner, driven us to work, cooked for us and even driven the other girl staying here to the doctor and waited with her. I couldn't have asked for a better person to be staying with.
Other: I'm getting braver by the day. I took the bus by myself for the first time today and even walked a couple of blocks down from the school (alone) to get myself some lunch. I'm becoming more confident and I hope that I get the chance and a little free time to see more of the city than just the two mile circle I make everyday. One day I may even get brave and try the metro....we will see.
This weeknd is my first anniversary and my husband and puppy are coming to Manassas for the weekend. I'm very excited to see them because I have missed them both so. I didn't want to stay in the city but I do hope we will get the chance to do a few historical things in Manassas. This has been Drew's first full week of work as well so I'm sure we will be doing more relaxing than anything.
There is just a bit of the goings on here in "the District" as they call it. I will update soon!
Let's grab lunch or midday sweets when I come in tomorrow! I am sure I am feeling up to eating something tomorrow and don't let us glamorize the doctoral education part ... Just grab a book or something and teach yourself... lol
