I honestly just had to laugh the whole time I did my project today. When I decided to do this diy I got online to look for a bone shaped cookie cutter. I found one on Amazon and ordered it right away. Little did I know that when it arrived I would barely be able to find it in the packaging.
Once again, reading the fine print probably would have prevented this but nevertheless this is what we received and therefore what I used. Don't have to worry about Ike foundering on these little boogers. I expected to be making actual "treats" but instead it's more like dog bone-shaped, peanut butter flavored kibble. I could almost sense Ike rolling his eyes as I gave him his first "treat."
Anyway, what you will need:
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 Cup Milk
2 Cups Flour
Mix all of those ingredients together, knead the dough, roll it out and use your (hopefully regular sized) cookie cutter.
My dough seemed to multiply as I went, probably because of the tiny size of the pieces I was taking out of it. The recipe I followed said that she made around 30 treats with this recipe. I imagine she had a more proper cookie-cutter. I wouldn't even begin to tell you how many I think I may have ended up with. Bake them at 375 (at this size for about 5 minutes) at regular size more like 15 or 20.
I must admit, they smell delicious and I am pretty hungry, Ike seemed to like them in spite of their tiny size. I thought it necessary to do something for him because he always wants to be involved in my crafts so he deserves a little (and I do mean little) treat too.
I will do my disclaimer here: I don't know how well this will sit on your puppy's stomach. Ike just tried his for the first time this afternoon but so far he's still kicking. But he will eat ANYTHING, deer poop, leaves, soap, sticks....and those are just the things I've witnessed therefore I'm not too worried . But I will keep you posted on his well-being, I feel sure he'll be fine. Here's the original link: http://www.browneyedbaker.com/2007/11/03/gone-to-the-dogs/
Good luck all you dog lovers!
